Dr Murphy is a licensed attorney-at-law admitted to practice law in Florida, Jamaica and Barbados. She holds a Juris Doctorate from Shepard Board College of Law, Nova Southeastern University, where she made the Dean’s List and received an award for pro bono services. Dr Murphy is a member of the Florida Bar Association and has extensive experience practicing law in various legal areas. She has represented clients in Florida counties and offers legal service of the highest caliber coupled with personal attention to her clients. Her practice areas focused on probate and estates administration and family law. Dr Murphy has also performed pro bono services for the Florida Bar and the Legal Aid Services of Broward County. 

Dr Murphy has an impressive background that predates her U.S. law experience. Her academic achievements at the University of the West Indies are a matter of record. She has done very well at the undergraduate and graduate levels in highly competitive programs. Dr Murphy holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) degree with Honors as well as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with First Class Honors. Additionally, she holds a Certificate in Legal Education from Norman Manley Law School and has been called to the bar as an attorney in Jamaica. Dr. Murphy has over 15 years of experience as an attorney in Jamaica. Between 1997 and 2002, she worked as legal counsel for three (3) government agencies: the Administrator Generals Office, the Office of the Trustee in Bankruptcy, and the Jamaica Customs Department.   

In addition to practicing law, Dr Murphy spent many years at Strayer University as Campus Dean and earlier in her tenure as a Full-time Faculty member and Professor of Law. She taught undergraduate and graduate courses in Business Law, Criminal Justice, Law, Ethics, and Corporate Governance. After leaving Strayer University, Dr Murphy joined the Shepard Broad College of Law as a Professor of Practice in the Academic Success and Professionalism Program at Shepard Broad College of Law. She taught Legal Skills and Professionalism, a required first-year course for all NSU College of Law students, Elements of Legal Analysis, and the Florida Bar Exam lab, a required third year course. Dr Murphy also coached and prepared law school graduates to take the Florida bar exams in February and July each year. She is an inspiration to and very supportive of the students she coached. She consistently supports and encourages her students and colleagues.  Dr Murphy also holds a Master’s degree in Theology and a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership (Ed.D.). The focus of her thesis is the experiences of Black law students in Florida Law schools.

In February 2024, Dr Murphy joined Law For All and is the Lead Trust & Estates Attorney. In addition to being passionate about the law, she is committed to promoting opportunities for diversity in legal education. Dr Murphy has two daughters and in her free time she enjoys gardening and cooking.
